Tomorrow the world will celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Son of God. Together with the angel and a multitude of the heavenly host, we all praise God and say: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

I pray that you, the readers of The Jagged Word, will enjoy your Christmas celebration over the next 12 days. Our Lord has blessed all of us with much and even if this holiday season isn’t what you planned on or expected, tomorrow reminds us that the Lord is indeed good and that His love is never-ending. Regardless of your station in life or what awaits you under your tree, God Himself has come into the flesh to take on our sin and to open the doors of heaven to His faithful.

As our celebration begins it is truly meet, right, and salutary that we should all give thanks to Him who gave us life and offers us the hope of His glory. The Church, despite her division, unites during this season in the grace of Him born of the Virgin Mary who is the King of Kings, our everlasting Immanuel!

It is also good during this Christmas season to thank those brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces that continue to keep this great country of ours free and help maintain some semblance of peace throughout the world. Although our Christmas celebration would commence even if we lived under the rule of a tyrant, as millions of Christians do, tomorrow we should all offer a toast to the one that preserves our liberty like no other – the U.S. Soldier.

Merry Christmas to all!
