Ash Wednesday calls us to repentance so:
I pretend to like the story of the poor widow and her mighty mites vs. the esteemed, celebrities of the day, scribes as recorded in the 12th chapter of Mark. Every time I hear Mark tell it, I crucify those braggadocios Pharisees who loved to be popular, in the spotlight, and rich. They made sure everyone saw them giving 10% to the Lord.

These words fill my ears after I have just blurted out a shallow and rambling confession of my sins. I feel like such an idiot when I do this.

I’m a stubborn person. According to my wife, I have a tendency to be too stubborn. “You need to lighten up” she says from time to time.
I admit that I could “chill out” of some things. I’m no care-free, fly by the seat of my pants type guy, but I know that life doesn’t always need to be so serious and intense.
