I pastor Emanuel Lutheran Church in Santa Barbara, California where I balance the vocations of son, husband, father, neighbor, citizen, pastor, and bartender.  I’m far happier here and now wearing these hats than I ever was flipping burgers, driving taxis, administrating computer networks, teaching IT, writing textbooks, or teaching college students about biometric security, Shakespeare, or the Crusades.   I enjoy cooking, traveling, drinking, reading, writing, and shooting pool – not necessarily in that order.  I’m fascinated by culture, sin, justification, sanctification, apologetics and how these topics play out in the pew and pulpit as well as in the local bar.  My sarcasm and irony are much better than my Greek and Hebrew.
