This piece is for dear friends who are waiting. But it is also for all who like them, wait.
Advent is for the waiting.
It is for those who wait for the cold of winter to turn into the warm reprieve of spring.
It is for those who wait for long days of darkness to give way to days of light.
It is for those who wait for vacations to arrive to grant a well-needed sabbath rest.
Advent is for the waiting.
It is for those who wait for future plans to unfold.
It is for those who wait for opportunities to arise.
It is for those who wait for next things, in whatever fashion, of what life brings.
Advent is for the waiting.
It is for those who wait for letters from their beloved soldiers.
It is for those who wait to come home.
It is for those who wait for war to cease.
Advent is for the waiting.
It is for those who wait for treatments to take effect.
It is those who wait for illness to subside.
It is for those who wait for death.
Advent is for the waiting.
It is for those who wait for the gift of new life.
It is for those who wait for two pink lines.
It is for those who wait to see a heartbeat on a screen.
Advent is for the waiting.
It is for those who wait for parents to call their own.
It is for those who wait to give a child a loving home.
It is for those who wait for amends to be made, and for reunification to take place.
Advent is for the waiting.
It is for those who look around and wait for better days.
It is for those who long suffer and wait for Christ’s return.
It is for those who grieve death and wait for Resurrection.
Advent is for the waiting.
Advent is for all who hopefully, and longingly wait.
And while Advent will pass giving way to Christmas, they will still wait.
Advent is for the ones who will continue to wait. God has not forgotten you.
